The new DCF”Integration Project” is now well
and truly underway across the Country. Recent activities have
seen the coaching team spread themselves far and wide as they
have set about “Grass Roots” development through both School and
SFO visits.
DCF Coach, Simon Talbot has recently run an
ICC Europe Introduction to Cricket for teachers course at Marie
Jørgensen Skole in Odense, sixteen teachers from four project
schools attended an action packed three hours, where they were
introduced to the “Cricket the DCF Way” programme. Feedback from
the teachers themselves has been fantastic, many had not
realized the potential of the game in the Danish school
environment, and all schools left with KWIK Cricket sets ready
to unleash upon the school children of Odense. Simon will be
following up the Teachers course with a number of visits to the
project schools to help the teachers further deliver the
programme. Fionia coach and local teacher, Rupert Dale was very
pleased with the outcome of the day, “It was great to bring so
many teachers together, I have been trying to do this for a few
years now, but with little success. At the end of the day we all
sat down over tea and agreed that we should stay in contact, and
look to advance the day by organizing a cricket festival at the
club in August. We are looking forward to the DCF visits in May
and June, and we are hoping to put cricket back on the school
programme in a big way over the next few weeks and months”.

The
Development team have also been out and about in Kolding, Simon
Talbot teamed up with KIF overseas coach Andrew Amos, and local
DCF U19 player Minik Pedersen to deliver sessions at
Dyrehaveskolen in Kolding. The three sessions were delivered to
thirty children, and again feedback from the school has been
fantastic. Indeed, Andrew has informed us that visits are being
planned by the school. Andrew will be visiting more schools in
the area both as part of the DCF project and on the behest of
KIF Cricket.
Extra News: Some of you may have seen on the DCF website the
recent Level II course in Copenhagen. Twelve participants are
now well on their way to completing the Level II course. We have
further courses planned in November (ECB Level I, Vejle) and we
are in the process of planning the new Level II+ which prepares
coaches for the much sort after Level III coaching certificate.
The
DCF Integration Project continues to spread its way around
Denmark in many different shapes and forms. School Visits have
again been very high on the sports development agenda, as both
Kolding (KIF) and Herning Cricket Clubs in Jutland have
continued their development programmes over the past month.
Kolding (KIF’s) overseas player coach, Andrew Amos has again
been one of the most active members of the team carrying out
sessions in both Forbundskolen and Alminde Viuf Skole. Feedback
from the visits has again been outstanding, and Andrew continues
to report children showing a great interest in taking the game
up on a more permanent basis.

A
little further North West in Herning, DCF coaches Simon Talbot
and Jacob Larsen have been equally busy setting up and carrying
out coaching sessions in and around the Mid Jutland Region.
Schools visited so far in Herning have been Brængårdskolen and
Søndreragerskole, and feedback from both schools has again been
very positive. In the meantime further visits are planned in and
around the Herning area, as well as Viborg and Horsens in due
course.

Elsewhere around the Country, in Copenhagen to be precise,
Simon Talbot assisted by Bret Mulder (Svanholm CC) have been
busy spreading the game to the future Danish teachers from
Copenhagen University and more locally with the SFO (Youth Club)
leaders from Brøndby.

Fire”
Both
courses were completely different in their delivery, the later
being given more instruction on how to get games moving quickly
right from the start of a session, “organisaton and safety”
being the priorities, where as the future teachers were given a
lot more “What to/How to” skills as well of course as the
former.
Feedback from both groups was again very positive, and future
INSET visits are planned in the future. At the close of play all
participants were invited back to the clubhouse, where tea was
taken. DCF coach Simon Talbot, also outlined the many
possibilities to download resources for cricket, the main one
being however the “Teach Cricket” resource from the ICC – Europe
Website.
